Flags placed at the final resting place of Brazos County Veterans in honor of Memorial Day

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – On Sunday afternoon, members of the community and several veterans organizations placed flags at the graves of the dead at Aggie Field of Honor in College Station.

More than 1,000 flags donated by National Sojourners will be placed at Aggie Field of Honor and Memorial Cemetery on Sunday and at College Station Cemetery on Monday.

The National Sojourners, Brazos Valley Chapter, began flag placements in the 1980s as a simple gesture to honor and respect those who have fallen in the service of our country and others defeated by the weight of time. The group says their engagement affirms that none are forgotten, but are gently remembered.

If that doesn’t make your heart swell with pride, I wouldn’t be here,” said Randal Smallwood, president-elect commander of Hereos National Sojourners, Brazos Valley Chapter. “I just think it’s the least we can do for these people who have been sworn to give, up to and including their lives for our freedom and I think we owe them that, the minimum thing we have for them. must.

The National Sojourners, Brazos Valley Chapter invites everyone to help place flags in College Station Cemetery on Monday, May 30 at 8:15 a.m. College Station Cemetery is located at 2630 Texas Avenue South, College Station.
