Funeral of Limerick man killed in Kildare storming to take place this weekend


A LIMERICK man who died after being attacked in Kildare earlier this week will be laid to rest this weekend.

Dylan McCarthy died in hospital on Monday following the attack by a number of men in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The Kilmallock man had traveled to Monasterevin with his family to celebrate the birth of his nephew.

The 29-year-old was socializing with his family at a local pub when an argument broke out on the premises.

It was reported that he was punched, fell under the assault and kicked in the head. An autopsy will determine the course of the investigation.

Gardai in Kildare put all their resources into the homicide investigation and arrest the men who brutally assaulted the young man.

Dylan is very deeply missed by his heartbroken parents Eamonn & Marita, his partner Aoife Talty, his sister Orla & Orla Glenn’s partner, his nephew Liam, uncles Chris O’Doherty, Denis McCarthy, Mike Shanahan, aunts Rose O’Doherty, Judy Kelly and Mary Clancy, plus Simon McAuliffe & Ita Carroll, aunts-in-law, uncles-in-law, cousins, parents, kind neighbors and a wide circle of friends.

Dylan will rest on Saturday August 27 from 5pm at Daffy’s Funeral Home, Kilmallock, followed by evening prayers at 7.30pm.

Moved to arrive at St Peter and Paul Church, Kilmallock, on Sunday for Requiem Mass at 4pm, with burial afterwards in Dromin Cemetery.
