Betty Julia House, 102 of Sand Lake, Michigan, died peacefully at her home on July 8, 2022.
She is survived by her son; David (Marilyn) House of East Falmouth, MA. Small children; Sarah (Jeremy) Ley of Canon City, CO and Jacob (Svitlana) House of Colorado Springs, CO. great-grandchildren; Madelyn, Jackson and Olivia Ley and Breckon and Alexander House.
Betty was born on May 1, 1920 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Fred and Lula (Glave) Hantz. She attended Albion College where she was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta Sorority before earning her bachelor’s degree from Wayne State University and then her master’s degree from Eastern Michigan University. Betty was a teacher for the Redford Union School District before retiring in the early 1980s and moving full-time to Sand Lake where she remained active in Tawas United Methodist Church and in the community. of Sand Lake.
Betty was predeceased by her husband, Bruce, in 2001.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at the Buresh Funeral Home (416 Whittemore Street, Tawas City, Michigan 48763). Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 14, 2022 at Tawas United Methodist Church (20 East M-55, Tawas City, Michigan 48763) with Pastor Kris Kappler officiating. A burial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday (July 16, 2022) at Pioneer Cemetery in Sand Lake, Michigan.
